Lesson 1

A quick notice before the word list: nobody is really certain exactly how words were pronounced in Russenorsk, but as long as your pronunciation seems vaguely like what the spelling is, you're probably ok. Besides, there aren't any native speakers or creators still alive to tell you that that's not how it's pronounced. However, the j sounds are likely pronounced as the English y in "yippee".

Word List

Russenorsk most often follows the word order SOV, meaning the subject of the sentence (I, for instance) goes before the object of the sentence (him, for instance), but that also goes before the verb of the sentence. However, SVO is also not uncommon.

Try translating some sentences!

Some of these sentences are taken directly from attested Russenorsk that has been recorded by people over its lifespan. Quick note: there is no word that's used frequently that means "to be", so if there's no verb, assume it follows that format.
